You're in good hands with Dr Slaney (and his secretary Lindy who is also great). He is a professional, yet friendly psychiatrist with excellent listening skils. I was sceptical about seeing a psychiatrist (especially a male one) because of my mother's bad experience of psychiatrists in the past, however, Dr Slaney quickly put me at ease. I wish my mother had seen him all those years ago. If I believed in cloning, he should be cloned! I'm finally on medication that works for me and I'm under a wonderful therapist who he referred me to. (I didn't get on with his first referral, but he quickly and professionally sorted that out.) It's evident that Dr Slaney cares about his job and his patients. He reads his notes before your appointment, so you don't have to repeat yourself which saves time and makes you feel heard. We discussed my past medication and the side effects, and I felt like he carefully considered which type to try me on next. To finally have a diagnosis and be on the right medication has changed my life for the better. I'm so much more stable and happier than I was a few months ago and I'm so very grateful. Dr Slaney is a truly outstanding doctor who I cannot complement enough. To give some background, I'm a medical student who was hospitalised for severe depression and Dr Slaney was my psychiatrist at the time. Through my journey as both a patient and medical student, I have encountered several doctors from various specialities. Out of all the doctors who I've encountered, Dr Slaney easily stands out as the best I've seen. When I was his patient, he really made me feel valued and listened to, and even managed to put a smile on my face at a time when I most needed it. He listened in a non-judgemental way and would explain my treatment plan to me in a clear and thorough way. He had a very good understanding of how to help, and made me feel at ease at the same time. It is thanks to Dr Slaney that I was able to get my life back and move forward. Not only did Dr Slaney help me overcome my illness, but he also showed me the type of doctor that I want to aspire to be in the near future! He really is an amazing person who I cannot recommend enough.

Dr Slaney is an exceptional psychiatrist who, with care, knowledge and wisdom, worked with me to find solutions in my journey through depression, anxiety and addiction. He listens very carefully, and always finds fresh new insights that help me to understand myself, and are key to my recovery, day-to-day life, and strategy for getting and staying well. Mark always explains his thoughts and recommendations, and I trust him knowing that my life is in good hands. In times of crisis Dr Slaney and Lindy (much more than just a superb secretary) have always been there, supporting not only me, but my wife too, with great care and professionalism and practical support. Lindy works magic with appointments and arrangements, and I look forward to catching up with her for a chat after consultation. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mark as a consultant psychiatrist, with many many thanks.

I had moved to Hampshire from London, where i thought i had had the best Psychiatric care possible, but how wrong i was and how lucky that my surgery that i registered at after the move, noticed my low mood and suggested i see the Psychiatrist in their surgery. Well, 10 years later, i can say that i would not have survived without Dr. Slaney ! Want a knowledgeable, but also charming Doctor, who knows everything there is to know about mental illness and medication. A mention must also be made for his Secretary, Lindy Fenner. For me, the smiley welcome i get after having seen Dr. Slaney and her utter compassion for changing appointments at the last minute, knowing we are not at our best, makes for a hugely reassuring environment.

I owe this Doctor my life. I saw him at a time when I did not know what was happening or how unwell I was. He listened to me, involved me in discussions about treatment, planned a course of recovery that was tailored to my individual circumstances and I was lucky to have him as my consultant. He literally saved my life.
